Interview Format
For the interviews, we chose a survey format: we chose a diverse audience compiled of different ethnic and age groups, and asked them a few questions about our website
Questions & Answers
- How likely is it that you could recommend our product/website to a friend or colleague?
All the respondents said they are very likely to recommend the product due to its usefulness and ease of use
- What comes to your mind when thinking about our app?
All interviewees' thoughts were positive about the app. Some highlighted COVID-19 features, while others highlighted app's simplicity and ease of use. Here are some responses we received on this question:
-
"The simplicity of use and well put together layout."
-
"Helpful tips to minimize the spread of COVID-19 while still voting."
- What is easy to use on our app?
Luckily, and respondents noted that the app is user-friendly, and easy to navigate. One of them described the app as "straightforward".
- What is the most important feature in this app? What could we do to improve on it?
Respondents had mixed opinions on the most useful feature: Some prioritized the line wait feature, while others prioritized real-time election results and the ability to know local issues. One of them recommended that we add more explanation to the "User Journey" Page
- What do our competitors do better than us?
Most respondents said that our site is as good as competitors'. However, some noted that they missed some features on our website, such as real-time election news and results. According to one of them, we also need to add a "share with a friend" option.
- If you were to change 3 things about this app, what would they be and why?
Although some said they wouldn't change anything about the app, we still got plenty of recommendations. Some of them are:
-
Moving the download (app store/google play) button to the top of the page
-
Share button to share contents to social medias
-
Language-switching system
- If you were to keep 3 things the same about this app, what would they be and why?
Respondents mostly underlined that even after adding some features, they would like to see the simple and user-friendly interface our app has right now. That means that we shouldn't overload our pages and separate the features on pages to help us keep it simple.

Naturally, respondents also said that the election info and line wait features should not be changed, as those are the cornerstones of the app.
NEW FEATURES

Based on our user tests, we have enabled external maps on our Line Wait feature! When using Line Wait, the user can click on a desired location and the app will direct the user to Google Maps. Through this added feature, they can utilize Google Maps and get directions to the location after seeing it's wait time.

Based on our user tests, we have enabled social media sharing! After reading about upcoming elections, potential candidates, and ballot issues, the user can share the information to social media platforms like Instagram, Facebook, and Twitter. This will inform other voters and inspire them to not only vote, but download our app and stay informed. When the user clicks on the icon of their desired social media, the app will direct them to the platform.
